In-House Product Testing
Industrial Specialties Mfg. offers a full line of specialty services to complement our products. One very valuable service offering is our wide array of in-house testing capabilities. These include: leak, pressure, vacuum and burst testing.
Some of the steps used to test fittings are listed as follows:
-
-
Leak Testing
Custom and standard fittings, valves and filters can be tested for leaks. Parts are either connected to a pressurized line and held under water for bubble testing, or we use a pressure decay leak tester to verify the fact that the part doesn’t leak.
-
-
Pressure Testing
The pressure decay tester is also used to make sure that other fittings are pressure tested to meet strict ISM standards.
-
-
Vacuum Testing
Depending on the use of the fitting, ISM also performs vacuum testing, as necessary.
-
-
Burst Testing
Our laboratory also has a burst system. Burst testing is performed to determine the maximum pressure a fitting, valve, filter or tubing assembly can handle before it fails. We use a standard 4 to 1 safety factor to determine maximum working pressure. Therefore, for example, if a valve fails at 200 psi, we will then rate the valve with a maximum operating pressure of 50 psi.
